Portland State University’s Theater Arts program presents the Tony Award-winning rock musical Spring Awakening, featuring book and lyrics by Steven Sater and a score by Duncan Sheik. This coming-of-age story follows a group of teens in 19th-century Germany as they grapple with identity, societal pressures, and the complexities of growing up. The production includes a live seven-piece band and showcases performances by Evii Anderson as Wendla, Richie Olson as Melchior, and Callum Cassee as Moritz. Directed by Theresa Robbins Dudeck, this musical explores themes of repression and self-discovery, providing audiences with a resonant theatrical experience.
