PETER PAN Flies to Lago Vista this Summer
"Peter Pan" is Lake Travis Music Theatre's (LTMT) 2017 offering for a summer stock show. Anyone familiar with Peter Pan knows that he flew everywhere in the story and took his young friends with him, in this delightful, magical tale.
Barbara Graham is Director for this production, and indeed, a major production it is. She said, "We've hired a professional flying company, Vertigo, to fly Peter, Wendy, Michael, John and Liza. They will train our people to work the equipment and to fly the cast members."
Major players are: Reagan Dunford as Peter; Tim Keating plays Captain Hook; Cassie Kinchen, Wendy; Reilly Favacho is Michael; Nicholas Philemon plays John; Suzanne Orzech is Tiger Lily; Buddy Novak, Smee; Lisa Weaver as Mrs. Darling; Stacy Savino-Philmon plays Liza; and Christian Favacho is Nana.
Dr. Leonard McCormick will direct the live small orchestra, as he has done for a number of years. The music for any Broadway musical is obviously a major component of the success of the show. A huge amount of work and rehearsal is necessary so that the action on the stage and the music coordinate with absolute precision. The slightest mis-step is obvious to the audience. When the show flows smoothly, you don't think about it, it's just there and wonderful. And that is the skill that these seasoned largely local performers bring to their shows. The North Shore residents and cultural arts devotees always demonstrate their appreciation of this amazing group of talent that brings so much enjoyment to their audiences. This show, indeed, will not disappoint them.
A major off stage player here is Greg McCullough, who joined LTMT last year as set designer for "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". McCullough moved to Point Venture after a long and illustrious career in set design at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, as well as for movies and more. So the North Shore of Lake Travis is the benefactor of yet another major cultural arts talent.
Costume design is also an important part of a successful show. Patti Bourland has headed up the costume department for years, another huge, and time consuming role. This year, she has created Captain Hook's splendid costume, and many other folks have stepped forward and volunteered to design and make gorgeous costumes for the fanciful show, including Rob Harriss, Bobby Kuykendahl, Amy Favacho, Joy Benedict, Annie Kounse, and Norma Kinchen, Cassie Kinchen's grandmother.
The cast is large and includes all ages, from 6 to 70! LTMT's young people's division and school, Rising Stars, is filling children and youth roles as Lost Boys, Indians and some of the Pirates.
"Peter Pan" will run for 6 performances over two weekends, June 16th to 18th , and 23rd to 25th. Evening performances are at 7:00 pm, and Sunday matinees at 2 pm.
Tickets are available on line at www.LTMT.org and available at the door. Seats are reserved so buying ahead has the advantage of choice of seats. There are different categories depending on location in the theatre.
Performances are at the Lago Vista High School Performing Arts Center on Lohman Ford Road.
LTMT is a 501c3 organization and all proceeds go to the costs of putting on the show. Please go online at www.ltmt.org for more information.
