Performing Arts Fort Worth kicks off its first-ever Family Series at the Bass with Golden Dragon Acrobats at Bass Performance Hall on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $33 and are on sale NOW!

Heralded by The New York Post as "amazing," the Golden Dragon Acrobats are considered to be the premiere Chinese acrobatic touring company of today. World-renowned impresario Danny Chang and choreographer Angela Chang have created a spectacle in which acrobatics, dance, spectacular costumes and ancient and contemporary music are effortlessly combined - with breathtaking and spellbinding results.

For their work with the Golden Dragon Acrobats, the Changs have been nominated for a pair of prestigious New York Drama Desk awards - for Most Unique Theatrical Experience and Best Choreography.

Now past its 30th year of continuous touring, the troupe has traveled around the world, performing in more than 65 countries on five continents, along the way garnering rave reviews. "A good deal of imagination has gone into devising colorful ways to use their skills and take advantage of their apparent total lack of fear," boasted The New York Times.

Comprised of jugglers, award-winning acrobats and contortionists from Hebei, China, the Golden Dragon Acrobats carry on the don't-try-this-at-home theatrics dreamed up by their ancestors more than 25 centuries ago. The troupe's history stretches back to the Warring States period (475 BC-221 BC), when Chinese workers entertained themselves by juggling various instruments of labor, such as wicker rings, tables, chairs, plates and jars. Many years later, these rudimentary acts evolved into an art form popular with Chinese emperors.

As time went on - and the performances became more extravagant with music, dance and hair-raising acrobatics added - the shows caught on with the general public. Now, worldwide audiences of all ages enjoy the Golden Dragon Acrobats' fusion of music, dance and how'd-they-do-that theatrics.

The Family Series at the Bass is the first-ever Performing Arts Fort Worth series designed specifically for young children and their families. Along with the Golden Dragon Acrobats, the series is comprised of performances by Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Co. (Dec. 13); Corbian the Dinosaur (January 24, 2011); The Spencers Theatre of Illusion (March 7, 2011); and Seussical (March 21, 2011).
All Family Series at the Bass performances begin at 6:30 p.m. and are approximately 60 minutes in length.
