"SXSW is one of the most important events of the year on the world stage not only for the music and interactive but now also for the arts," said Lana Carlson, Curator. "I'm proud to be a part of the SXSW Art Advisory Board and to have an opportunity to curate a POP up show with some of the hottest emerging from Austin and Dallas, as well as internationally. Art, sculpture and design objects will be showcased in a luxurious penthouse in downtown Austin - and it will certainly be a highlight of next week."

Lana Carlson served as the Head Curator and Co-Founder of the POP Austin International Art Show. Prior to conceptualizing POP Austin, she was Director and Founder of the Modern Art Gallery in Paris and St. Petersburg. Early on, Carlson earned degrees in Music Theory and Business Management. She later went on to attend The Sorbonne and School of Louvre in Paris, France studying The History of Twentieth Century Art, Contemporary Art, and History of Costume and Fashion. While completing her education, she worked as a specialist and art consultant at the Carpentier Art Gallery in Paris, where she practiced sales in many of the largest French auction houses such as A.Millon, Massol, Cornette de St. Cyr. Lana was responsible for curating and producing the first ever state museum exhibitions of Auguste Rodin at the Tsaritsyno Museum in Moscow and The Peter and Paul Fortress in Saint-Petersburg. In 2012, Carlson collaborated with artists Serebryakova and Bleikh on an exhibition in Paris titled "POP Asia." As a dealer and gallerist, Carlson participated in numerous art fairs around the world including Spoon in Hong Kong, ARCO in Madrid, Art Asia, Miami Art Basel and the Los Angeles Art Show. In 2014, Lana Carlson applied her education, multicultural background, expansive network and trilingual language skills to expand upon an idea that she introduced to the international art world. That concept is known today as POP Austin. For more information, please email here.
