A revival of the show was a recent smash in London's West End. Set in both the past and the present, the show features chart-topping tunes including 'Is You Is, or Is You Ain't My Baby,' 'Let the Good Times Roll,' and 'Knock Me a Kiss'.

(05/17/2019) - Theatrical Outfit (TO) held its annual fundraising gala, 'Our Luckie Stars,' on Saturday, April 27th at its home, The Balzer Theater at Herren's on Luckie Street in the heart of downtown Atlanta. The event honored long-time TO patrons Doug and Florida Ellis and featured silent and live auctions, wonderful food, and exciting entertainment from familiar TO artists. The evening was a celebration of the theatre's mission to provide world-class conversation-starting theatre to inspire a compassionate, joyful, and just community. The gala raised over $123,000, breaking its fundraising goal and surpassing last year's success.

Washington, dramaturg Dr. Angela Farr Schiller, and Atlanta Distinguished Professor Emerita of Southern Studies Dr. Theda Perdue in a discussion on the performance of race through the context of history and the Obie Award-winning play An Octoroon by playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. The New York Times praises An Octoroon as "This decade's most eloquent theatrical statement on race." In it, Jacobs-Jenkins reframes the 19th century melodrama, The Octoroon by Dion Boucicault, blending theatrical styles and 21st century cultural politics in an exploration of the art form's interplay with race and identity. Opening with a scene from the Atlanta production of An Octoroon featuring actor Neal A. Ghant, our panelist share in discussion about the play's themes, their relation to our state and local history, and why it's still relevant today.

Ever After, loosely based on the Cinderella fairy tale, tells the story of Danielle de Barbarac, the Cinderella-esque young daughter of a 16th-century landowner who's forced into slavery by her stepmother after the unexpected death of her father. When a chance encounter with a prince stirs up considerable excitement for the young servant girl, Danielle finds that she might have the strength to take on her stepmother…and the world. Broadway diva Sierra Boggess, most known for her acclaimed turns as Ariel in The Little Mermaid and Christine Daae in Phantom of the Opera, will take on the role of the vibrant Danielle.
