Water II, a site-specific movement installation conceived and created by Yana Schnitzler, will be presented at the River Project, Pier 26 on Saturday, June 25th at 3:00 & 6:00 PM and Sunday, June 26th at 3:00 PM.  The event, which is presented by chashama, in association with The River Project & Friends of Hudson River Park, will be free and open to the public.

A press statement describes the work as featuring "five dancers draped in flowing fabric, representing the life and movement of New York's Hudson river.  With slow and fluid movement, the dancers unfold, stretch-out and shape the fabric creating a human extension of the Hudson."  Schnitzler, who is the artistic director of the  Human Kinetics Movement Theater will perform alongside Meghan Ballog, Veruska Cantelli, Orit Greenberg and Akiki Bo Nishijima.

Founded in 2002 by Schnitzler, Human Kinetics Movement Theater blends dance and the visual arts to create site-specific movement installations that transform the environment, revealing to its audience new possibilities of perception and meaning.  One of Schnitzler's main working principles is to explore different aspects of fabric in relation to the human body.

chashama is a non-profit New York City arts organization with a nine-year history of supporting artists of all genres and experience levels by offering them access to space and major support resources.  chashama provides opportunities for artists by transforming vacant real estate into multi-arts complexes and animating them with innovative and challenging art.  In 2004, chashama donated over 2,000 hours of rehearsal space to its guest companies and artists, gave major space grants to several performing arts groups, presented over 120 shows and events, provided free gallery space to more than 100 visual artists and provided 45 highly subsidized studios for visual artists and theater companies.  Additionally, through low and no-cost admissions, chashama provides more opportunities for audiences as well as artists.
