BroadwayWorld.com is, once again, celebrating the Holiday Season with a special 'countdown' which will reveal some favorite holiday-themed performances! For the 5th Anniversary of this Exclusive Feature, we've invited director/producer Richard Jay-Alexander to be our first-ever Guest Editor, to share with us HIS holiday favorites. His list will be composed of holiday songs and boasting performances with artists we know and love from Broadway and beyond. We'll bet that this countdown will surely get you into the holiday spirit, as the big day rolls around on December 25th, but we won't forget Chanukkah and Kwanzaa either. This is sure to be a 'Must Check-In Daily' event to see what's on RJA's list, while we wish you Happy Holidays from all of us at BroadwayWorld.com!

For Day 7 of BroadwayWorld's 12 Days of Christmas "video finds," we present Carol Burnett and Alan Alda. They both boast Broadway pedigrees. You may not know this, but Alan played Felix in THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT, in the '64-'65 Broadway season, opposite Diana Sands. He also appeared in THE APPLE TREE, with Barbara Harris in 1966 and was nominated for a Tony Award as Best Actor in a Musical for his starring role.

Carol Burnett, of course, lit up Broadway, in 1959, with her debut in ONCE UPON A MATTRESS (written by the late Mary Rodgers and Marshall Barer). In 1969, she opened in the little known FADE-OUT, FADE IN (written by Jule Styne, Betty Comden and Adolph Green), which is a musical that I am mad for. Broadway ALWAYS stayed in her heart and she brought it with her to television.

Today's clip comes from an episode of The Carol Burnett Show, the Variety Show that set the bar SO HIGH, no one has touched it since. It was a huge hit for CBS, debuting in 1967 and ending in 1978. A plethora of stage and screen stars, as well as recording artists, appeared on the show over the years. It was an amazing accomplishment, done WEEKLY, with incredible musical material every week and the incomparable Peter Matz delivering stunning arrangements and Bob Mackie delivering just as incomparable costumes and fashion ... EVERY WEEK!

Neil Patrick Harris has inked a deal with NBC in hopes of giving the Variety format a comeback. Fingers crossed on this end. But, right now, we take you to a little Holiday vignette, in which Carol plays a Dept. Store Shop Girl and Alan Alda is a Store Santa. The song (surprise, surprise) is from SEESAW!

Watch this and you will yearn for REAL TELEVISION and the VARIETY SHOW. Look at the attention to detail, check out the clothes and patterns and most importantly ... watch their CHEMISTRY!

Happy Holiday's from EVERYONE at BroadwayWorld.com!
