US Premiere of Nic Balthazar's NOTHING Set for United Solo Theatre Festival Tonight
Meet Ben, a wordsmith with autism who learns how to overcome his high school bullies. Inspired by true events, Ben uses poetry, music, and video to share his story of meeting "Barbie" in a divine online connection, standing up to his high school bullies, and finding ways to fit into a "normal" world.
The US Premiere of NOTHING by Nic Balthazar, a one-man show adapted and performed by Jon Kovach, is tonight, Nov. 19th as part of the United Solo Theatre Festival. "One night I was cruising around Netflix and was sucked in by a foreign film on young man with autism who overcomes bullying," Kovach says, as he described participating in community service activities both dealing with bullying, and people with autism. "I was completely taken by the story, immediately reaching out to the author with a sense of duty to bring the story to the US."
There is no better place to perform NOTHING than The United Solo Theatre Festival. With it's ruthless poetic nature, and inventive use of technology, New York has always been a destination on Kovach's road map for this show. "After having success with theatre festivals in New Orleans, San Diego, and Cincinnati, people have continually asked when we are headed to New York." Kovach's show received awards and critical acclaim in both San Diego and Cincinnati, and is ready for the challenge of the big apple. "United Solo brings in so much international talent. We are humbled to be performing among the best in the largest city in the U.S."For more information: http://unitedsolo.org/us/2014-nothing/
