The Staten Island Children's Museum Will Celebrate The Life & Legacy Of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. With Special Programs

The Staten Island Children's Museum will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during special workshops and musical performances on Monday, January 21.

Story Time & Art Workshop: "I Have A Dream"
11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Visitors will hear a reading of the story "Martin's Big Words" and then create their own signs with messages inspired by Dr. King's vision. Free timed tickets will be available for pick up at the front desk.

Musical Performance by the Staten Island Steel Pan Orchestra
3:00 pm
Guests will join young musicians from the Staten Island Steel Pan Orchestra to learn about steel drums. They will then enjoy a performance and a message of unity inspired by Dr. King.

Free admission for all from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

NYC Public Schools are closed that day, and the Children's Museum will offer a "Cool School Holiday" with free admission for all from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, sponsored by the Lois & Richard Nicotra Foundation and Stop & Shop.

"The work of Dr. King is more important than ever, and we are proud to share his legacy with a new generation of children," said Dina Rosenthal, Executive Director of the Staten Island Children's Museum. "We invite all families from the community to join these special events inspired by Dr. King's vision."

The Staten Island Children's Museum is located on the grounds of Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden, 1000 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island, NY 10301. The Museum's hours for September - June are Tuesday- Friday from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. The Staten Island Children's Museum is housed in a building owned by the City of New York and its operation is made possible, in part, with public funds provided through the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs with support from the Staten Island delegation to the NYC Council. Significant operating support is also provided by the NYS Council on the Arts, Corporations, Foundations, the Trustees and Members.
