The Royal Ballet Presents NEW WORK NEW MUSIC In The Linbury Theatre

New Work New Music, a programme of six world premieres to contemporary music never before used for dance, is presented by The Royal Ballet in the Linbury Theatre this February, accompanied by London Sinfonietta, conducted by Jonathan Lo.

Acclaimed director and choreographer Aletta Collins presents Blue Moon, set to a score by David Sawer, co-commissioned by The Royal Philharmonic Society Drummond Fund. Featuring an ensemble of female dancers from The Royal Ballet, the work celebrates the spirit of unity and collaboration.

Additionally, Alexander Whitley creates a new piece set to music by award-winning composer Mica Levi. Goyo Montero makes his Royal Opera House debut with newly commissioned music by Owen Belton, and Royal Ballet First Soloist Calvin Richardson makes his inaugural work for the Linbury Theatre on an ensemble of performers, including Principal dancer Akane Takada. The programme is completed with a new work by Principal Character Artist Kristen McNally, set to music by Samantha Fernando. Juliano Nunes creates a duet for Lauren Cuthbertson and Marcelino Sambé, with music by Luke Howard.

Creative Producer of The Royal Ballet, Emma Southworth, comments: 'I'm really delighted to be able to welcome such a variety of innovative artists to the refurbished Linbury Theatre, a new international stage for dance, in what promises to be an exciting and wonderfully contrasting evening of premieres performed by The Royal Ballet.'
