The Musicals of Musicals, the hit revue that ran off-Broadway last year, will shoot its satiric arrows on London stages. The show will begin performances on March 28th at Leicester Square's Sound Theatre, where it will open on March 31st and play a limited engagement through April 22nd.

Directed by Sevenoaks Playhouse artistic director Julian Woolford and choreographed by Steven Harris, The Musical of Musicals will feature Joanna Ampil (Hair, Miss Saigon), Susannah Fellows (Beautiful and Damned), Geoffrey Abbot (Carousel) and Ian McLarnon (Sunday in the Park with George) in its cast.

The Musical of Musicals sharply but affectionately skewers the trademark musical conventions in the work of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Kander and Ebb as a single plotline is threaded through the sounds of each. After premiering at the York Theatre Company, the show transferred to off-Broadway's Dodgers Stages, where it opened on February 10th, 2005 and closed on November 13th. The show features music by Eric Rockwell, lyrics by Joanne Bogart and a book by both; a cast recording is available on the Jay label.

NML Productions, Melanie Herman, the York Theatre Company and Martian Entertainment, in association with Louis Bluver, will produce The Musical of Musicals in London. The show will feature design by Ben Stones and musical direction by Dean Austin.
