Adrian Bailey, an ensemble member in the cast of The Little Mermaid on Broadway, was injured after a fall through a trap door prior to the start of this past Saturday's matinee. The New York Times reported this morning that the actor has asked for a court order to preserve a prop in the show in preparation for a potential lawsuit. The paper notes that he's been treated for fractured wrists, a broken back, a shattered pelvis, a fractured sternum, several fractured ribs and a fractured foot.

A new statement released this morning by Disney Theatrical Productions notes that "Out of respect to Adrian and his family and their request for privacy, we have refrained from making any additional comments in the media regarding his condition.  We continue to respect those wishes and our hearts go out to Adrian as he recovers from this serious and unfortunate accident.  We have launched a thorough investigation of the circumstances related to this incident and will continue making the safety of our company members our top priority."

Reports of the incident stated that "the actor, who fell approximately 20 feet on to the stage, was conscious and taken to Bellevue Hospital for evaluation.  Bailey broke both wrists during the fall. The show began about an hour later without further incident and the evening show will run as scheduled."

BroadwayWorld.com sends positive thoughts and prayers towards Adrian for a quick and speedy recovery!
