On Sunday, December 9, 2007 the cast and crew of Disney's The Lion King concluded an unprecedented 13-week run in Honolulu.  The production set a house record for The Blaisdell Concert Hall, grossing $1.3 million during its final week.

In Honolulu, The Lion King entertained more than 180,000 people over 99 performances and grossed more than $14.8 million.  According to the League of Theatres and Producers, Inc., the typical touring Broadway show produces at least three dollars in local revenue for every dollar spent on tickets, therefore The Lion King has meant an estimated $45 million boon for the state of Hawaii.

The Lion King returned to Dallas for a five-week engagement from September 20 – October 21, 2007 at The Music Hall at Fair Park.  The production was seen by approximately 120,000 people with box office revenue approaching $7.5 million.

The Lion King recently celebrated its 10th anniversary by returning to Minneapolis, the city where the production made its pre-Broadway premiere in 1997.  The five-week return engagement played The Orpheum Theatre from October 25 – November 25, 2007.

Over the past five years, The Lion King's two national touring productions have played to more than 10 million people in more than 50 major cities in 30 states. During the coming year, The Lion King will premiere in Mexico City, Milwaukee, Toledo and Washington, D.C. and play return engagements in Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Tampa and Columbus.

The Lion King is the winner of more than 70 major awards worldwide and has become a global phenomenon seen by more than 43 million people. In addition to Broadway and its two national tours, The Lion King can also be seen in Hamburg, Johannesburg, London, Paris, and Tokyo.
