The Light in the Piazza Cast Album Released May 24

The cast album for THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, currently running at the Vivian Beaumont Theater will be released on May 24, 2005 on Nonesuch Records. The show recently announced an extension until Sunday, September 4. The musical was also recently nominated for 11 Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical and 11 Outer Critics Circle Awards including Best Musical.
With a book by Craig Lucas, music and lyrics by Adam Guettel and direction by Bartlett Sher, the musical, based on the novella by Elizabeth Spencer, is set in the summer of 1953 and tells the story of a mother and daughter traveling through Italy, the daughter's romance with a handsome, high-spirited Florentine, and the mother's determined efforts to keep the two apart. THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, which was originally scheduled through June 12, began previews on Thursday, March 17, and opened on April 18.
The performance schedule for THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA is Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8pm, with matinees Wednesday and Saturday at 2pm and Sundays at 3pm.
