TORCHED! IN CONCERT Will Come to Pregones/PRTT

Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater (Pregones/PRTT) announced the full cast and creative team for Torched! In Concert. Directed by Pregones/PRTT Artistic Director Rosalba Rolón, with musical direction by Desmar Guevara, performances run Thursday May 28 – Sunday June 7, 2026, at Pregones Theater (Pregones) (575 Walton Avenue, The Bronx, NY 10451).
Torched! In Concert is a powerful staged concert of Pregones/PRTT's acclaimed production exploring the complex legacy of the Bronx fires of 1970's New York. Pulsing to the beat of salsa, funk disco, and hip hop, Torched! In Concert transports audiences between 1970s New York – when the fires gripped headlines – and the present-day.
Part investigative theater and part poetic fiction, Torched! In Concert brings to life the true stories of those who endured the devastation, exposing the harsh realities of the arson-for-profit schemes. Torched! In Concert pays tribute to the real people who fought back, who continue to seek truth, share their testimonies, and unmask the hidden forces behind the fires. Performed in English and Spanish with titles, Torched! In Concert is a moving and vital exploration of resistance, resilience, and the enduring spirit of a community.
The cast will feature a powerhouse acting and music ensemble including John Cencio Burgos as Burt, Christin Eve Cato as Gina De La Vega, José Joaquín García as Tito; and Austin Turner as Mr. B and Jay, Jenyvette Vega as Candy / Insurance Broker, and Nyseli Vega as Linda.
The band for Torched! In Concert will feature Desmar Guevara on keyboard, Alvaro Benavides on bass, Anthony Carrillo on percussion, and Marcos Torres on drums.
“Re-visiting our original TORCHED! - The People Ignited production and re-envisioning it in a concert allows us to expand its possibilities, making it possible to perform it as a full musical production or as a concert in many other cities,” says Pregones/PRTT's Artistic Director, Rosalba Rolón, who wrote the book and lyrics and will direct the concert performance. “Our goal is to add to the voices of countless artists who have worked over the decades to correct history, sharing one of the most tragic eras of our beloved Bronx, bringing it to light, and exposing the truth behind the fires. We are dedicating this run to the countless firefighters, the thousands of residents whose lives were at risk throughout an entire decade and the leadership for their guidance.”
Torched! In Concert will feature musical direction by Desmar Guevara, lighting design by Lucrecia Briceño, costume design by Harry Nadal, and projection design by Eamonn Farrell. Jessica Moya is the Production Manager, Brianna Guillen is the Stage Manager, and Samara Lee is the Assistant Stage Manager. The creative team is comprised of longtime Pregones/PRTT collaborators.
The performance schedule for Torched! In Concert is as follows: Thursday-Saturday at 7pm; Sunday at 3pm.
