THE LAST OUT GATE to Make World Premiere at New York Theatre Festival
Casey Bradley directs Kevin Anthony's play at Teatro LATEA, starring Billy Oxendine and Grant Michael Dine.
THE LAST OUT GATE, a new play written by Kevin Anthony and directed by Casey Bradley, will be presented at Teatro LATEA later this month as part of the New York Theatre Festival.
Performances are scheduled for May 26 at 9:00 p.m., May 27 at 6:30 p.m., and May 30 at 4:30 p.m. at Teatro LATEA, located at 107 Suffolk Street in Manhattan.
The production stars Billy Oxendine as Tyson Garrett, Grant Michael Dine as Jake Welker, Rachel Ann Jerome as Shannon Barrow, Terra Layne as Lippy Welker, Camron Chapple as Charlie Duncan, and Evan Carter Hays as Doctor Steve, Shane, and Jimmy Blanford.
The play follows Tyson Garrett, a professional bull rider navigating identity, relationships, and the lingering pressures of his upbringing in a small Texas town. A published response from Fleas On The Dog Literary Magazine compared the work to BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN while highlighting its focus on masculinity, emotional repression, and self-acceptance.
Anthony is a retired college professor whose previous works include several short plays produced through the New Works Festival at College of the Canyons. Director Casey Bradley is a Brooklyn-based Australian director affiliated with LAByrinth Theater’s Intensive Ensemble and The Actors Studio Directors Unit.
The creative team also includes stage manager Anastasia Novak, intimacy coordinator Lisa LaGrande, and lighting designer Ivy Walker.
