TELENOVELA NIGHTS Will Bring Bilingual Cabaret to The Green Room 42
The evening features two original musical telenovelas performed back-to-back.
Following a successful workshop presentation at Pregones/PRTT earlier this year, Broadway Sin Vergüenza will bring its acclaimed bilingual cabaret experience Telenovela Nights to The Green Room 42 on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 9:30 PM.
Presented by Broadway Sin Barreras, Telenovela Nights is a fast-paced double feature inspired by the experience of gathering with family to watch nightly telenovelas - now reimagined live on stage through musical theater, comedy, melodrama, and cabaret storytelling.
The evening features two original musical telenovelas performed back-to-back:
Champagne Tears: The Rich Also Cry
A wildly theatrical rags-to-riches saga filled with betrayals, family secrets, shifting loyalties, and larger-than-life characters navigating the glamorous and emotionally unstable world of the Salvatierra estate.
Querida: Amor Sin Final
A heartfelt and chaotic story of love, heartbreak, family expectations, and emotional reckoning inspired by the music of Juan Gabriel.
Performed by a bilingual ensemble and accompanied by live piano, Telenovela Nights blends rapid-fire comedy, emotional twists, audience interaction, and musical storytelling into an immersive cabaret experience.
"Broadway Sin Vergüenza was created to celebrate the humor, drama, language, and cultural rhythms many of us grew up with," said Vanessa Verduga, founder of Broadway Sin Barreras and creator of the Telenovela Nights series. "This format allows us to tell original stories in a way that feels deeply familiar to our community while also opening the door for bilingual musical theater to continue expanding in New York."
The cast for the May 31 performance includes: Arelis Cruz, Marianne Grossmann, Inma Heredia, Mario Mazzotti, Diego Millan, Isabella Pacheco Rarick, Juliana Padilla, Susana Raposo, Jon Rodez, Vanessa Verduga, Kiwi Villalobos, and Thomas Vorsteg.
The production is directed by Vanessa Verduga and Juliana Padilla, with Eric Smrcka serving as Musical Director and pianist.
The Green Room 42 engagement marks the next stop in Broadway Sin Vergüenza's inaugural cabaret circuit, with a future performance already scheduled at 54 Below on October 15, 2026.
