Stella McCartney and L'Oréal "have made the mutual decision not to renew their license agreement after the contract ends on Sept. 12, 2013," the L'Oreal confirmed Tuesday. "As a result of their mutual decision, L'Oréal will focus on concentrating on its other brands, while Stella McCartney will pursue its fragrance and beauty business," reported WWD.
A McCartney spokesman did not comment further. L'Oréal acquired the Stella McCartney beauty business in May 2008. At the time it was described as the first designer organic skin-care brand on the market - Care by Stella McCartney. McCartney's other beauty products include two fragrances, L.I.L.Y. and their signature scent.
