Stages Theatre Company is hosting auditions for the 2009-2010 Acting Conservatory Program starting Monday, April 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the John Ireland Community Room at the Hopkins Center for the Arts.
Described as one of the best actor training programs in the Twin Cities, the Acting Conservatory is designed for students between the ages of 12 and 17. After auditions, students are placed in one of four tracks. This comprehensive 18-week training program teaches students the necessary tools and techniques required to become a confident, skilled and thoughtful actor.
To audition for next year's Acting Conservatory Program, you must be 12-years old by October 2009. All interested students are asked to come prepared with a one to two minute, memorized monologue. Each student is given a 10-minute time slot.
The Acting Conservatory Program consists of three, six-week sessions. All classes meet two times a week-either on Monday or Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the FAIR School in Crystal.
Past Conservatory students have gone on to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, DePaul University, Northwestern University and other renowned institutions. This year, eight conservatory students will travel to Bath, England to perform and students completing Track IV perform annually at the Minnesota Fringe Festival.
Since class size is limited, Stages Theatre Company encourages appointments for auditions to be made in advance. Other audition times are: Wednesday, April 29 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday, June 9 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The cost for the year-long program is $485 per student. To schedule an audition, please contact Acting Conservatory Director Jennifer Kirkeby at (952) 979-1106 or e-mail kirkeby@stagestheatre.org.
