Clearly, it is no small coincidence that King Arthur's birthday* and the first performance of the eagerly anticipated new musical MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT both take place on December 21.

Lovingly ripped off from the internationally famous comedy team's most popular motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail, SPAMALOT begins performances in its premiere engagement on Tuesday December 21 at Chicago's Shubert Theatre (22 W. Monroe) and plays there through January 23 2005. Telling the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and their quest for the Holy Grail, SPAMALOT stars David Hyde Pierce, Tim Curry and Hank Azaria. Mike Nichols directs. It is written by Eric Idle and John Du Prez. Casey Nicholaw is the choreographer.

SPAMALOT will begin previews at Broadway's Shubert Theatre (225 West 44th Street) beginning February 14 2005 and opens on March 17 2005. SPAMALOT will only play at theatres called Shubert. If someone tries to convince you find you're seeing SPAMALOT and you find you're not at a theatre called Shubert , you're in the wrong place. Now. Run away.

*King Arthur's birthday is traditionally celebrated on the Winter Solstice but no one knows how old he really is (and we hear he's had work done). If he were alive today, he'd be around 1500 years old, give or take a century.
