Slusser, Ludwig, et al. Elected to Actors' Equity National Council

Fourteen members of Actors' Equity Association, the Union which represents more than 49,000 stage actors and stage managers nationwide, were elected to the National Council, the Union's governing body, it was announced today. These members were elected to serve five year terms and represent Principals, Chorus and Stage Managers in Equity's three regions, Eastern, Central and Western.

Of the 14 seats open in this election, nine (9) were available in the Eastern region, one (1) in the Central region and four (4) in the Western region. In the Eastern region, Nancy Slusser, Julia Breanetta Simpson, James Ludwig, Bob Knapp, Gil Rogers and Brian Myers Cooper were elected to represent Principals. In the same region, Francis Jue and Ronald L. Brown were seated for Chorus and Jason A. Quinn was elected to represent Stage Managers. The Central region's one open seat was a Principal spot filled by Mark David Kaplan. Seated in the Principal category in the Western region was Larry Cahn; Jennie Ford was elected as Chorus councillor and Pat Loeb and D. Christian Bolender were elected to represent Stage Managers.

Actors' Equity Association was founded in 1913 and seeks to advance, promote and foster the art of live theatre as an essential component of our society. Equity negotiates wages and working conditions, providing a wide range of benefits, including health and pension plans. Actors' Equity Association is a member of the Four A's, the AFL-CIO and is affiliated with FIA, an international organization of performing arts unions. Actors' Equity Association will celebrate its 98th anniversary later this week on May 26th.
