Sidney Bechet Society to Present Evan Christopher's Clarinet Road Today

Tonight, OCTOBER 14, 2013 at 7:15 P.M., The Sidney Bechet Society presents Evan Christopher's Clarinet Road.

Evan Christopher, New Orleans-based ambassador of the Creole clarinet style, returns to Peter Norton Symphony Space (2537 Broadway @ 95th St., New York, NY 10025) for what has become an annual event to honor reed-master, Sidney Bechet.

For 2013, a duo CD release from pianist Eli Yamin, Louie's Dream: Celebrating Our Jazz Heroes anchors the program. Inspired originals, choice standards and Bechet rarities delivered with refined heat and drive aim to convey the essence of the artists they most admire. Joining Evan and Eli are vocalist Hilary Gardner and cornetist Randy Reinhart. Bassist Thaddeus Exposé and drummer LaFrae Sci round out the rhythm section. As an extra treat, Louis Armstrong alumnus Marty Napoleon makes a special appearance.
