Scott Alan, the composer/lyricist who also serves as the producer of the popular Monday Nights, New Voices series at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre, will appear at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre on August 22nd.

He will join special guests Shoshana Bean (Wicked), Lisa Brescia (Aida) and Cheyenne Jackson (All Shook Up) at the Duplex for an evening of song.  Alan will perform himself, as well as accompanying the three stars on piano.

Alan's first musical Listen and Dream premiered at the Fireplace Theatre in Boston in 1999.  A one-time band vocalist, his other musicals include Detour (Complex Theater) and his latest, Piece: A Musical Memory.  Bean, Brescia (who performed in a reading of the musical) and Jackson will perform songs from the show, among others, at the Duplex.  Piece was most recently performed at the TheatreWorks New Works Festival this spring, with another production to come.

Alan also produces the Monday Nights, New Voices series which puts lesser-known Broadway talents in the spotlight.  "In addition to classic musical theatre tunes, the series will also feature new music from up-and-coming and established composers, who will accompany the performers on piano."  On Monday, September 12th, host Felicia Finley (Aida) and special guest composer Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Dessa Rose) will headline an evening featuring Ellyn Marsh, Mamma Mia!'s Sara Kramer, Spelling Bee's Kate Wetherhead and more, with musical direction by Barbara Anselmi.

Tickets for Alan's concert are $15, plus two drink minimum.  Reservations for the evening can be made by calling (212) 255-5438, or visiting www.theduplex.com; the same applies to Monday Nights, New Voices.
