STAGE TUBE: THE NORMAL HEART Box Office Triples Since Tony Wins; Broadway Community Shows Support

On Sunday night, June 12th, the Broadway premiere production of Larry Kramer's ground-breaking play The Normal Heart took home the Tony Awards® for Best Revival of a Play, Best Featured Actor in a Play (John Benjamin Hickey) and Best Featured Actress in a Play (Ellen Barkin). These wins helped "The Normal Heart" become the number one search term on Google all across America on "Tony Sunday." Since then, The Normal Heart's daily box office wrap has more than tripled from their average daily sales before Sunday's Tony Awards.

To help celebrate the Award-winning production, a "Friends of the Normal Heart" video featuring commentary from Elton John and David Furnish, David Hyde Pierce, Nathan Lane, Cynthia Nixon, Rick Elice, Judith Light, Gavin Creel, Cheyenne Jackson, Bob Balaban and Michael Urie has been released about the importance of the play and its impact on audiences. Fans are invited to join the Friends of The Normal Heart and upload stories about the show and the impact it's had at www.YouTube.com/TheNormalHeartBway. Submissions will be featured on The Normal Heart Facebook page and on the "Friends of The Normal Heart" page of the official website.

In addition to the show's Tony Awards, The Normal Heart has been honored as this season's Best Revival of a Play by the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Drama League Awards and has received Drama Desk Awards for Best Ensemble and Best Direction of a Play, along with a Special Citation from the New York Drama Critics Circle.

Directed by Joel Grey and George C. Wolfe, The Normal Heart features a cast that includes Ellen Barkin, Patrick Breen, Mark Harelik, John Benjamin Hickey, Luke Macfarlane, Joe Mantello, Lee Pace, Jim Parsons, Richard Topol, and Wayne Alan Wilcox.

The premiere presentation of Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart on Broadway is produced by Daryl Roth, Paul Boskind and Martian Entertainment in association with Gregory Rae and Jayne Baron Sherman/Alexander Fraser.
