The Responsibility Project The Responsibility Project The Responsibility Project

For many young adults, being responsible for oneself is hard enough. But for young Broadway stars who take on other personalities, "doing the right thing" can become even more complicated. As Broadway actors immerse themselves in their characters, they take on additional responsibilities: the responsibility to be authentic, to be true to the role and to share a character and set of experiences with the audience.

In "Young Broadway: Responsibility and the Arts," the latest series of short films from Liberty Mutual's Responsibility Project, Jennifer Damiano ("Next to Normal"), Kyle Riabko ("Hair") and Michael Esper ("American Idiot") share their personal thoughts about being responsible when connecting to their character and to the audience. In each film, the Broadway star discusses their character's take on responsibility as well as their personal perspectives on the role of responsibility in their careers. Click below for their insight.

Damiano knows she has done "the right thing" when the audience is moved by her character's experience. Riabko connects to his character's need to fight for what he believes in. Esper draws on his own personal experiences when his character is forced to make the decision between acting selfishly and taking responsibility for more than himself.

The Responsibility Project, created by Liberty Mutual, uses entertainment content to create a forum for people to discuss personal acts of responsibility. Through short films and online content, The Responsibility Project is a catalyst for examining the decisions that confront people trying to "do the right thing."
