SLO Repertory Theatre presents Mel Brooks' THE PRODUCERS

The San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre is thrilled to launch the second half of their inaugural season as SLO County's only nonprofit, professional theatre company with THE PRODUCERS! The hilarious musical comedy from comic genius Mel Brooks is based upon his 1967 movie and premiered on Broadway in 2001.

Winner of a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards in 2001, including Best Musical, the story revolves around Max Bialystock, the onetime king of Broadway producers who is hungry to strike it rich, and Leo Bloom, a humble accountant with dreams of someday becoming a theatre producer. The two discover that they could get richer by producing a flop than a hit and start by finding the worst show, worst director, and worst actors. When their new production, Springtime for Hitler, turns out to be a smash success, the result is hilarious musical chaos!

Directed by Kevin Harris, with musical direction by Lacey McNamara and choreography by Drew Silvaggio, THE PRODUCERS is SLO REP's "Gala Musical" and their biggest show of the year. THE PRODUCERS runs February 16-March 11, Wednesdays-Sundays at 7 pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm. out shows. Tickets range in price from $40-$50 and are available at www.slorep.org or by calling (805) 786-2440. Please note: A special Gala Martini Night on Friday, February 23rd, featuring a pre-show reception and post-show party with the cast, is already SOLD-OUT.

THE PRODUCERS features the talents of Great American Melodrama favorites Billy Breed as Max Bialystock and Toby Tropper as Leo Bloom. The company of actors also includes: Seth Blackburn, Mike Mesker, Rachel Tietz, Cameron Parker, Jed Authier, Kerry DiMaggio, Darren Doran, Kelly Fidopiastis, Gregory Gorrindo, Rebecca Gruett, Jacqueline Hildebrand, Zach Johnson and Lauren Moore.
