Here's what's happening on Theater Talk.
New This Week...Brits on Broadway
Influential English journalists, columnist Baz Bamigboye of London's Daily Mail and critic Charles Spencer of The Daily Telegraph of London, review the shows they saw during their visit to New York City, including Billy Elliot, Speed-the-Plow, Farragut North and Shrek The Musical (left), and also discuss the London theater scene. (Reairing on CUNY TV, Channel 75 on Saturday, January 3 at 8:30 PM, Sunday, January 4 at 12:30 PM, and Monday, January 5 at 7:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 7:30 PM.)
Are Drama Critics Necessary?
Critics John Heilpern of The New York Observer, Mike Kuchwara of The Associated Press and Jacques le Sourd (pictured right) of CBS radio, discuss the profound impact of the economy on their profession and whether professional drama critics are, in Riedel's words, "doomed."
They also review some of the new productions of the season, including All My Sons, The Seagull, Billy Elliot, Speed-the-Plow, Liza's at the Palace and Garden of Earthly Delights.
Susan Haskins and Michael Riedel with Frank Langella Theater Talk, the series devoted to the world of the stage, is co-hosted by Michael Riedel (Broadway columnist for the New York Post) and series producer Susan Haskins.
