Ras Enoch McCurdie (The Judge) has been cast as Dr. Ben Reitman in a reading of "LOVE, SEX, ANARCHY", a new play based on the loves of Emma Goldman, the Anarchist, to be presented Monday, March 21, 7pm, at the Bernie Wohl Center, by the 29th Street Playwrights Collective.

29th Street Playwrights Collective is committed to diversity in casting (Ben Reitman was Caucasian, Mr. McCurdie is African-American), as well as committed to gender parity, with 50% works by women. "Love, Sex, Anarchy," by Melissa Bell (Devil & the Deep, Lost in Love at the Triad), is the second offering in their monthly "New Works Series 2016" presented in association with Goddard Riverside/Bernie Wohl Center.

Heather Bagnall (SingleMarriedGirl) reprises the role of Emma Goldman after previous presentations in New York and Washington DC, produced by Tasty Monster Productions. Luke Tudball directs.

Escaping a brutal childhood and the monotony of factory work in Russia, Emma Goldman (Bagnall) arrives in New York City, ripe for the Anarchist philosophy. A fiery speaker, agitator for woman's rights and practitioner of Free Love, she becomes caught up in a passionate affair with Ben Reitman (McCurdie). Through their combined efforts, she becomes the most notorious woman in America. But Emma is tortured by Ben's sexual betrayals. Can Emma reconcile her idealistic beliefs with her all too human emotions?

Rounding out the cast is Beau Allen (A Recluse and His Guest), Clinton Brandhagen (Master Class), Alexandra Cremer (Ghosts), Pamela Karp (Calabi Yau), David Hywel Baynes (Richard III), Kyle Minshew (Devil & the Deep) and Gina L. Grandi (the Bechdel Group).

The Bernie Wohl Center is located at 647 Columbus Avenue at 91st. The reading is Free and open to the public. RSVP on Eventbrite.com.
