Queering the Stage: Introducing RING OF KEYS in Concert

RING OF KEYS brings QUEERING THE STAGE to Birdland. QUEERING THE STAGE is directed by Janelle Lawrence with musical direction by Anessa Marie. This one-night only concert will play Birdland Theater on Thursday, November 15th at 9:45pm.

Ring of Keys, making it's Birdland debut, is a national network of queer women+, trans, and gender non-conforming professional artists working on and offstage in musical theatre. Queering The Stage is a celebration of Ring of Keys' members and their work. Audiences can expect to hear gender identity and sexuality norms turned on their heads - queering songs, characters, and the stage! Backed by a 3-piece band, Queering The Stage is an opportunity to create visibility at the intersection of gender identity, sexuality, and musical theatre. Ring of Keys strives to kick (ball-change) the closet door open to create a vibrant, diverse musical theatre landscape for the future.

The cast will include Delaney Amatrudo, Klea Blackhurst (Everything the Traffic Will Allow), Royer Bockus, Éamon Boylan (ANT Fest's Soft Butter), Joanna Burns , Donnie Cianciotto (Southern Comfort), Morgan Dean, Madge Dietrich (Kinky Boots), Holly Dunn (Shout! The Mod Musical natl tour), Kat Griffin, Alex Guhde, Maya Jacobson (Fiddler Afn Dakh), Esco Jouley (Interstate), Kristin Kelleher, Janelle Lawrence, Megan Lione, Cynthia Nesbit, Andrea Prestinario, Pearl Rhein (The Great Comet), and Sheri Sanders. Composer/Lyricists featured will be Kit Yan & Melissa Li (Interstate), Jacob Jarrett (Normativity), Nina Kauffman (Afterglow), Joanna Burns, Éamon Boylan, and Pearl Rhein.

This evening is directed by Janelle Lawrence. Music direction by Anessa Marie, featuring Rebecca Marquardt on guitar and Lindsey Augusta Mercer (Hundred Days) on drums. Stage management by Laura Malseed (Afterglow). Produced by Jenn Maley (Be More Chill, Indecent) and Andrea Prestinario.
