Playhouse on Park is now presenting THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT, the comedy based on a true story, currently running through May 3 in West Hartford. Check out photos of the production.
Written by Jeremy Kareken, David Murrell, and Gordon Farrell, the play is based on the book by John D'Agata and Jim Fingal.
The Lifespan of a Fact follows an eager intern at a top literary magazine who is given a career-making assignment: fact-checking a new work by celebrated author John D’Agata. When a meticulous fact-checker begins dissecting the essay, the narrative starts to unravel, leading to a high-stakes showdown between hard facts and emotional truth as a looming deadline approaches.
The production is directed by Matt Pfeiffer, who returns to Playhouse on Park after previously directing This Is Our Youth. His credits also include work with Arden Theatre, Delaware Theatre Company, Theatre Horizon, Walnut Street Theatre, Gulfshore Playhouse, and the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, where he has spent 26 seasons. Pfeiffer is a 13-time Barrymore Award nominee and winner for Best Director for The Whale and The Invisible Hand.
The cast includes Shannon Michael Wamser as John D’Agata, Suzanne O’Donnell as Emily Penrose, and Edward Montoya as Jim Fingal. Wamser has previously appeared at Playhouse on Park in productions including Of Mice and Men, Red Light Winter, and The Complete Works of Jane Austen, Abridged. O’Donnell’s credits include the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Arden Theatre Company, and Orlando Shakespeare Theater. Montoya has appeared with the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival and is a graduate of the SUNY Purchase BFA Acting Conservatory.
