On January 19th and 20th, John Pinette performed his stand-up comedy act at the Gotham Comedy Club (208 W. 23rd St.).

Pinette recently played Edna Turnblad in the Broadway production of Hairspray Born just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, Pinette started out as an accountant.  Realizing he could make a living off his talent for humor, he began his comedic career. Pinette got his big break when he was asked to tour with Frank Sinatra, and has become a regular guest on "The Tonight Show" and "The View."  Pinette was named Stand-Up Comedian of the Year by the American Comedy Awards in 1999 and received a Gemini Award nomination for his performance at The Montreal Comedy Festival in 2000. Pinette has also enjoyed a successful acting career in both television and film, with credits including feature films Duets, Dear God, and Junior, as well as television shows "Seinfeld" and "Parker Lewis Can't Lose." 

His latest comedy DVD, "I'm Starvin,'" will be released on January 23rd.
