On December 7th at 5 PM, Chita Rivera and David Hyde Pierce led the lighting of the 2005 Broadway Holiday Tree in Father Duffy Square.Tony Award-winner Rivera (the current The Dancer's Life, Kiss of The Spider Woman, West Side Story) and Tony Award-nominee Hyde Pierce (Spamalot, "Frasier") were joined by the cast of Altar Boyz, who sang "What Christmas Is...," a song by Gary Adler, one of the composers of the hit show. In addition, sixth graders from the Professional Performing Arts School sang in front of the tree, and a $5,000 check was given to the family-oriented The New Victory Theater by Theatre Development Fund and The League of American Theatres and Producers.
