PERSEPHONE Comes To The Hellenic Cultural Center This June 2026
Thymos Production brings a fresh and intimate perspective to the ancient myth of Persephone.
Persephone, a new play by Thymos Productions, will be presented this June at the Hellenic Cultural Center. Co-founded by Francesca Pecchi and Lucia Sapienza, Thymos Production brings a fresh and intimate perspective to the ancient myth of Persephone.
This evocative new work features a 100% Italian cast, including Lucia Sapienza in the titular role of Persephone, alongside Arianna Stendardo Gamble as Sofia and Elisabetta D'Avenia as Teresa. Francesca Pecchi serves as stage manager and co-producer, with co-direction by Sophia Marylin Nelson and Lucia Sapienza, who also wrote the piece. The show also features original music by Sicilian artist Nico Arezzo.
Set between a Sicilian kitchen and a New York piano, Persephone follows a daughter navigating the emotional and cultural divide between continents, identities, and generations. Through a blend of original music, intimate monologues, and minimalist staging, the production explores themes of immigration, belonging, and the quiet tensions that shape familial bonds across time and distance.
At its core, Persephone examines the emotional terrain of diaspora and the personal cost of forging one's own path while carrying the weight of distance and time apart from loved ones.
