Ogunquit Playhouse Receives 2 IRNE Awards

The Ogunquit Playhouse is honored to have received two Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Awards at the April 23rd ceremony held in Brookline, Massachusetts for the critically acclaimed 2017 production of Ragtime. The Playhouse received seventeen IRNE Award nominations overall, winning in the Large Theatre category for Best Actor in a Musical for Josh Young, for his performance as Tateh, and Best Sound Design for Kevin Heard.

"We are truly grateful for the continued recognition by the IRNE committee members and especially honored to have our production of Ragtime receive these accolades along with such industry leaders as A.R.T., the Huntington, and North Shore Music Theatre. Ragtime is one of the most powerful shows ever written for the stage, and we were very proud of our production and its wonderful cast and creative team, who strived to connect people through this great, truly American, art form, and to tell a story that has the power to open minds and hearts, and to examine other points of view. We are extremely proud of everyone who made it possible for Ragtime to be recognized by the IRNE committee and send heartfelt congratulations to Josh and Kevin for their awards," stated Executive Artistic Director Bradford Kenney.

The Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Awards were founded by Beverly Creasey of the Journal Newspapers and Larry Stark of Theater Mirror in 1997. The IRNE Award ceremony is New England's largest theater arts recognition program, recognizing the work of playwrights, designers, actors, choreographers and directors among large, mid-size, small and fringe theater companies throughout the previous year.
