ONE GOOD EGG To Be Served Up At United Solo ONE GOOD EGG is a poignant mash-up of comedy, storytelling, and theater featured at the prestigious United Solo Theatre Festival on October 19 & 20.

Written and performed by Elaine Gale, ONE GOOD EGG breaks more than a few conventions as it follows one woman's quirky and powerful quest for family and love. "It's my personal story yet there's a universal aspect to it," says Gale. "I was doing stand-up comedy for several years, but I wanted to risk more emotionally as an artist. ONE GOOD EGG is about as honest and gritty as I get."

One of a hundred shows chosen worldwide to participate in the United Solo Theatre Festival, ONE GOOD EGG travels from Santa Barbara under the tutelage of award-winning director Julie Fishell. "Elaine is a gem and has written a passionate nonfiction theater piece," says Fishell. "It's an honor to work so closely with one voice on the page and on the stage."

At times edgy and challenging-but also deftly using humor throughout-ONE GOOD EGG is an important show in the current cultural zeitgeist with its imperative to hear more women's voices in public discourse. "I believe laughter helps us look at and be with pain in ways that help us move through it," says Gale. "This is the way I can raise my voice in support of our shared humanity."

ONE GOOD EGG is one-act, one-woman show written and performed by former Los Angeles Times award-winning journalist, storyteller, humorist, Dr. Elaine Gale. Currently an Associate Professor of Communication Studies and Journalism at California State University, Gale is a sixth-generation Nebraskan who now resides in Santa Barbara.

Its director, Julie Fishell, is an award-winning actor, director and teacher. She has appeared Off-Broadway, Regionally and with National and International Tours including The Public Theatre (NYC), The Lark (NYC), Manhattan Class Company (NYC), Theatre for a New Audience (NYC), and Chautauqua Theatre Company (NY).
