Located on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica, California, Tara Gallery is a new, nonprofit art gallery, which focuses on contemporary and modern Iranian art. The unique and stunning gallery is a welcomed addition to this prestigious neighborhood, providing art, knowledge and culture for all.

Founded by the intriguing and forward thinking Homa Taraji, the gallery is a charitable as well as a creative addition, being that it is sponsored by the American Foundation for Contemporary Iranian Art (AFCIA), a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to promoting and supporting contemporary Iranian art in the United States.

The main focus and drive of Tara Gallery is to bring much deserved exposure to the arts and artists that have flourished in Iran over the last thirty years but only recently received international acclaim. The goal is to introduce these renowned artists to the Los Angeles community, art enthusiasts and collectors. The artists are carefully selected by Taraji on her many trips to Iran.

What sets Tara Gallery apart from any other is that art collectors, artists and enthusiasts alike are given the unique opportunity to view and appreciate art that they would otherwise, never have the opportunity to view. Nowhere in the USA is there a gallery that exclusively offers access to these artists; this truly is a groundbreaking concept and memorable experience for all gallery visitors. The gallery is clearly soon set to become a destination point for tourists who usually would not be exposed to such artists.

"The Iranian revolution has had an unexpected impact on the development of art in Iran. Since many sources of Western style entertainment were cut off, creativity incubated among the artists. The result is a wealth of fascinating art with distinctive style and message.

"On a trip to Iran in 2001 (after being away for 15 years), I discovered this untapped wealth of artwork and recognized that Iranian paintings have not yet received the international recognition they deserve. I decided then to focus on exposing it worldwide," said Taraji.

The gallery is proud to announce the names of the current respected artists it is proudly showcasing: Bayesteh Ghaffary, Ghasem Mohammadi, Ahmad Mohammadpour, Fereydoun Omidi, Nima Petgar, Kamran Sharif and Amirhossein Zanjani.

Continued Taraji when asked what drives her, "I have a true passion for what I am doing, I am fully committed to supporting these talented artists, an artist should be heard, everyone has that right, it is my hope and goal that the Tara gallery helps their voices be heard in this beautiful art form."

The gallery is conveniently located at 1202B Montana Avenue.

Hours are:
Tuesday through Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm, Mondays by appointment.
