In Episode 315, award-winning musical theatre writer Joel B. New revisits highlights from episodes featuring female singer-songwriters Grace McLean, Janet Krupin, and Kate Steinberg.

For the live song portion of the episode, Vishal Vaidya performed "How to Sleep Alone," music by Joel B. New and lyrics by Heidi Heilig.

"Heidi Heilig grew up in Hawaii where she rode horses and raised peacocks, and then she moved to New York City and grew up even more, as one tends to do. Her debut novel, THE GIRL FROM EVERYWHERE, is coming in February 2016 from HarperCollins. She holds an MFA from New York University in Musical Theatre Writing, of all things, and she's written book and lyrics for shows including The Time Travelers Convention, Under Construction, and The Hole. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, her son, and her pet snake."

"Vishal Vaidya is a performer and voice teacher living in Washington Heights. He spends his time doing readings of new musicals, working at 700 different day jobs, and trying to be as cool as Joel B. New."

Named one of 2014's Top 20 Podcasts for Theatre Fans by BroadwayWorld.com, "Something New" dissects what it means to be a working, multifaceted artist in America and always concludes with a premiere recording from one of New's latest musical projects. "Something New" is available on iTunes, SoundCloud, Stitcher, and TuneIn. For more info, please visit joelbnew.com.
