The Pirate Stage Company (winner of 4 New Hampshire Theatre Awards in 2007) will be bringing its production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch to New York City for a Theatre Authority Approved Benefit Weekend, May 31st - June 3rd at the Theatre at St. Clements, on 46th Street.

"The purpose of the benefit is to raise funds for the St. Clement's Food Pantry, which has been helping feed the homeless in "Hell's Kitchen" since 1986.  It assists 400-500 hungry New Yorkers each week, providing basic food and staples.  The church's strained financial resources and a lack of increase in grants have made it extremely difficult to meet the basic Food Pantry goals.  Due to limited funds and lack of food donations, the program has been forced to turn away 2 to 3% of clients, and reduce the amount of food it gives to each client.  The Pirate Stage Company hopes to raise thousands of dollars to replenish the pantry and help the many New Yorkers who need it so desperately," as described in press materials.

The production stars Billy Butler in the title role, Jennifer Mallard as Yitzhak, and a 4-piece rock band. Hedwig and the Angry Inch was an Obie Award-winning Off-Broadway hit, composed by Stephen Trask with book and lyrics by John Cameron Mitchell. The pair also won multiple awards for the show's hit 2001 film adaptation.

Performances are May 31st – June 2nd (Thurs.-Sat.) at 8pm; June 3rd (Sun.) at 3pm at the Theatre at St. Clements (423 W. 46th Street, between 9th and 10th Ave).

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased in advance at www.piratestage.com or at the door. For more info, call Pirate Stage at 603-413-5212.
