Deadline reports that Gary Lennon (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK) will pen the book for a new untitled stage musical based on the professional and personal life of husband and wife rock stars Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo.

Lennon recently sold the film rights to his newest play CHANGE. His other works include Blackout, The Interlopers and A Family Thing.

Produced by Jamie Cesa, the rock 'n roll musical love story is eyeing a Broadway run next year. According to the report, the project will follow the highs and lows of the power couple whose hits include "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," "Heartbreaker," "We Belong" and Love Is a Battlefield." The iconic pair started their professional and personal relationship more than 35 years ago when they collaborated on Benatar's debut album and have worked together ever since. They went on to marry in 1982 and continue to criss cross the country on tour.

The musical is described as "fast paced, hard-hitting and heartbreaking, just like the lives from which it is inspired and the era." The duo's iconic songs will be featured throughout the show.
