Metropolitan Playhouse presents the Iris String Quartet in a concert comprising Brahms, Gershwin and contemporary American composers tonight, March 5, 2013 at 8:00 PM at Metropolitan Playhouse 220 East 4th Street, between Avenues A and B, New York City. Tickets are $25 Adults and $10 Children Under 18.

The program will be:

Johannes Brahms - String Quartet in C Minor, Opus 51 No.1

Louis Conti - Bardo Thodol

Nick DiBerardino - Celestial Dances - Ex Nihilo

George Gershwin - Five Songs

Michael Kosch - Giotto (selections) for solo violin (World Premiere)

The Iris String Quartet is: Yibin Li - violin, Muneyoshi Takahashi - violin, Entela Barci, - viola, Sean Katsuyama - cello.

Formed by four talented musicians devoted to educating as well as performing, the Iris Quartet has presented concerts in some of New York's finest venues since 2007. Named after the Greek goddess of the rainbow, the Quartet brings to its performances a colorful blend of four diverse personalities and backgrounds.

In addition to performing, each member is involved in teaching their respective instrument, and also in educating audiences new to classical music. While each has trained at New York's most renowned music schools, formative studies in Albania, China, Japan, and the United States also inform their musical interpretations.

Iris is excited to be performing in this award-winning theater that is an integral part of the heart of the East Village theater scene. Metropolitan Playhouse is eager to present the Iris String Quartet in this concert of classical chamber music in its intimate downtown home.
