MAMMA MIA!, the smash hit musical based on the songs of ABBA and currently playing in four North American companies, celebrates two worldwide landmarks this week. On Thursday, November 11th, the first Spanish language production (and 14th production of MAMMA MIA! to have opened worldwide) opens at the Lope De Vega Theatre in Madrid, Spain - marking the first time the musical will be presented in Spanish. The Madrid company represents the fifth foreign language production of MAMMA MIA! to play worldwide in addition to record-breaking productions in German, Korean, Japanese and Dutch.

Following its Dublin, Ireland engagement, the International Tour of MAMMA MIA! begins performances in Edinburgh, Scotland this Friday, November 12th at the Edinburgh Playhouse before visiting South Africa, Lisbon, Brussels and Paris.

Inspired by the story-telling magic of ABBA's timeless songs, writer Catherine Johnson's irresistible tale of family and friendship unfolds on a fantasy Greek island. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings 3 men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.

With more productions playing simultaneously around the world than any other musical, MAMMA MIA! is the world's number one show. From West End smash to global phenomenon, MAMMA MIA! has been seen by over 18 million people across North America, Australasia, Europe and Asia.

With music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, MAMMA MIA! is written by Catherine Johnson and directed by Phyllida Lloyd.

MAMMA MIA! is produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East and Björn Ulvaeus for Littlestar in association with Universal.
