Director/Choreographer Luis Salgado won the Best Director Award at the closing ceremony of the 2015 NYC Venus/Adonis Festival. Salgado was chosen out of forty-eight other directors who were part of this year's festival, for his direction of Zuccotti Park, the musical.

"This is such a great confirmation that the process of uniting all... cast and crew in the idea of making Art with a Purpose, pays off. What matters to me is that the cast, creative team and most importantly the writers, get the reward and acknowledgment through this award. I am very aware that my job as Director is not only to stage, guide, inspire life and oversee the production, but also to listen, learn and expand the potential of the piece by allowing each department to bring their best to it," said Salgado whose next directing adventure, a Spanish-language production of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow, is scheduled for a limited run at the Corralón de San José in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, beginning Aug. 13th.

"This award belongs to everyone involved in Zuccotti Park, and it's already opening new doors", he added.

Zuccotti Park has book and lyrics by Catherine Hurd and music composed by Vatrena King, who won second place as Best Play at the Festival. The cast included, Corrado Alicata, Ashley Brooke, Dylan C. Digel, Tim Fitzsimons, Sonya Higgins, Dan Iwrey, Becky Grace Kalman, Daniel Karp, Brian Kinnard, Cara Maltz, Adriana Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Cait Murphy, Sarah Sirota, Evan Michael Smith, Jessica Smith, Baba Tavares, Megan Tischhauser, Alexander Tomas & Levin Valayil.

The Salgado Productions team, consulting all-departments, included Lighting Designer: Herrick Goldman, Costume Consultant: Harry Nadal, Scenic Design Consultant: Kate Rance, Production Supervisor: Heather Hogan, Production Assistant: Greg Uliasz, Props by Alina Uzlov, and Assistant Director, Valeria Cossu. From California: Project Supervisor Poppy Peach. General Management for Zuccotti Park was handled by Denisse Ambert and Salgado Productions.

Luis is scheduled to return to Broadway in October with Gloria and Emilio Estefan's Broadway Musical ON YOUR FEET.
