Little Women The Musical to Close on May 22

Having played a combined total of 192 previews and performances, it's been announced that Little Women, The Musical will close on Sunday May, 22 at the Virginia Theatre. A 30-city tour of the show is planned however, kicking off in August in San Diego, and starring Maureen McGovern in a reprisal of her Broadway rule of Marmee.

The Original Broadway Cast Recording of LITTLE WOMEN THE MUSICAL, starring Sutton Foster and Maureen McGovern was released on May 3, 2005 on Ghostlight Records, a division of Sh-K-Boom Records, Inc.

LITTLE WOMEN: THE MUSICAL, based on the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott, had book by Allan Knee with music by Jason Howland and lyrics by Mindy Dickstein. Sutton Foster starred as Jo March with Maureen McGovern co-starring as Marmee. Ms. Foster received a 2005 Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for her performance. Also in the cast: Amy McAlexander, Megan McGinnis, Jenny Powers, Janet Carroll, Danny Gurwin, Jim Weitzer, and Robert Stattel. Susan H. Schulman directed.

Producers, Randall Wreghitt, Dani Davis, Chase Mishkin and Ken Gentry have announced that the planned national tour, which will star Maureen McGovern is set and will open a 30 city tour in San Diego in August.

LITTLE WOMEN: THE MUSICAL is playing at the Virginia Theatre, 245 West 52nd Street. Remaining performances are Wednesday at 2pm and 8 pm, special matinee on Thursday at 2 pm, Friday at 8 pm, Saturday at 2pm and 8pm and Sunday at 3 pm. Tickets are available through Telecharge.com (212) 239-6200.
