LEND ME A TENOR's Anthony LaPaglia to Undergo Second Hip Replacement Surgery
According to reports, LEND ME A TENOR star Anthony LaPaglia will undergo a second hip replacement operation later this year. It has been six years since his last surgery.
LaPaglia, 51, is an avid soccer player who regularly plays while home in Santa Monica, California. LaPlaglia used to play professionally, and admits that the intense sport has caused damange to his hips, causing him to need the second surgery after his time with LEND ME A TENOR is up. This time, the actor says he will take a break from playing soccer in order for a full recovery to be possible. As quoted on IMDB, the actor said about his surgery the first time around, "I was out playing soccer again in about two, three months (after the surgery). It was too soon. I could still feel it. It probably takes about a year (to heal)." The LEND ME A TENOR run will not be affected by LaPaglia's future surgery and will run as scheduled at The Music Box Theatre.LEND ME A TENOR stars Anthony LaPaglia, Tony Shalhoub, Justin Bartha, Brooke Adams, Mary Catherine Garrison, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Jay Klaitz, and Jan Maxwell, and is directed by Stanley Tucci.
Set in the 1930s, LEND ME A TENOR is a madcap screwball comedy that takes place when Tito Merelli, the fiery-tempered and world famous Italian superstar, arrives in Cleveland, Ohio to make his debut with the local opera and promptly goes missing. As Saunders, the show's presenter, conspires to cover for Tito's absence, placate his hot-blooded wife, and distract his most passionate fans, chaos on a truly operatic level ensues.

LEND ME A TENOR premiered on Broadway in 1989 and received seven Tony Award nominations, winning two. It was also honored with four Drama Desk Awards. Prior to Broadway, LEND ME A TENOR played London's West End where it received an Olivier Award nomination for Best Comedy. Ticket Prices: $121.50 and $86.50 at all performances except Saturday at 8 PM when they are $126.50 and $86.50. All prices include a $1.50 facility fee.
