Ars Nova has extended the new comedy/drama, 25 Questions for a Jewish Mother, starring Emmy Award-winner Judy Gold, an additional four weeks through March 10.

Written by Kate Moira Ryan with Gold and directed by Karen Kohlhaas, the show opened on Wednesday, January 25 at Ars Nova (511 West 54th Street) and was originally scheduled to run thru Sunday, February 12.

25 Questions for a Jewish Mother, which was a sold-out hit at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, is "a comic's personal journey to find love, laughter and acceptance as a Jewish mother with two kids and a nagging Jewish mother of her own," according to press notes.

Emmy-winning actress/comedienne Judy Gold and award-winning playwright Ryan (Cavedweller, OTMA) embarked on a five-year journey across the United States, interviewing over 50 Jewish women of different ages, ethnicities, and occupations.  The end result is "a moving and humorous portrait of what makes a Jewish mother, a Jewish mother."

Gold is an Emmy Award-winning actress and comedian.  On television, Gold is the host of HBO's "At the Multiplex with Judy Gold."  Her specials include a half-hour comedy special for LOGO, a TBS special from the Aspen Comedy Festival,  "Comedy Central Presents: Judy Gold," Comedy Central's "Tough Crowd Stands Up," and Judy's HBO half-hour special, which received a Cable Ace Award.  She has also appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." On film, Gold was most recently seen in The Aristocrats.  She won two Emmy Awards for writing and producing "The Rosie O'Donnell Show."  Gold was nominated twice for The American Comedy Award's funniest female stand-up.  Gold lives in New York City with her two children.  She frequently tours theatres and comedy clubs around the country.

Just two years ago, Ars Nova opened its doors in memory of Gabe Wiener with the goal of being a home for artists to develop and perform new works in an intimate audience setting.  Ars Nova produces theater, comedy and music events, making exciting live entertainment accessible to a New York audience at affordable prices.  In addition to fully staged productions, Ars Nova offers a free play reading series (Out Loud), an alternative music and comedy series (Thursdays at 10), a musical theater series (Broadway Spotlight), a singer/songwriter series (Uncharted) and in-house writers' workshops.
