Joseph Fiennes to Star in Nunn Helmed 'Cyrano' for Chichester Fest
Chichester Festival Theatre has announced that Joseph Fiennes will play the role of Cyrano de Bergerac, directed by Trevor Nunn.
His film credits include Shakespeare in Love, Elizabeth, Luther and The Merchant of Venice. His theatre credits include Love's Labour's Lost (directed by Trevor Nunn) and Othello (National Theatre), Troilus and Cressida, The Herbal Bed and As You Like It (Royal Shakespeare
Company), Epitaph for George Dillon (Comedy Theatre) and Edward II (Crucible Theatre, Sheffield).
Cyrano de Bergerac will not be performed on Tuesday 19 or Wednesday 20 May as stated in the brochure, and that the Festival events scheduled on these dates have been rearranged.
As previously announced the first four shows are to be Simon Gray's posthumous The Last Cigarette, starring Felicity Kendal, Nicholas Le Prevost and Jasper Britton and directed by Richard Eyre; Nikolai Foster's revival of Coward's 1925 comedy Hay Fever, led by Diana Rigg and Simon Williams; and the return of Ronald Harwood's Taking Sides and Collaboration, starring Michael Pennington.
Positioned in the beautiful surroundings of Oaklands Park, Chichester Festival Theatre is one of the United Kingdom's flagship theatres, with a dazzling international reputation for producing a wide range of theatrical productions, from musicals and comedies, to classic drama and innovative new writing.
