Two-time Obie Award winning singer and performance artist brings his multi-octave voice to Galapagos Art Space with ""The Escape Artist", original songs from a velocity-addicted globe-traipsing man who identifies with the life and paintings of the Italian painter Caravaggio. Part autobiography, part travelogue, these songs paint a picture of a globe-traipsing man dragged through dark times, the artist escaped, a weathered sage returned solid. Songs (some written in collaboration with Avant Chanteuse Carol Lipnik) include: "Profit Blues", "Dagmar's Eyes", "Motorino Dudes", "Saint Be With Me", "Beauty Kills Me", "The Dazzling Darkness", "All That's Left", "Cara Viaggio". Also including covers by Kurt Weill, Radiohead, The Incredible String Band, and John Barry ("You Only Live Twice").

Having brought to life characters ranging from Egon Schiele to Joni Mitchell, this group of songs form a more oblique character from a more autobiographical angle. Much of this material was begun during Kelly's recent stint as a Rome Prize Fellow at The American Academy in Rome. The Broadway veteran ("James Joyce's The Dead") recently appeared in Rinde Eckert's "Orpheus X". He has recorded and sung with Laurie Anderson, David Del Tredici, and Antony and The Johnson's.
