Joe Gulla's GAY.PORN.MAFIA To Play The New York Live Arts Theater

Presented in association with The Downtown Urban Arts Festival, Joe Gulla's "GAY.PORN.MAFIA", directed by Brian Rardin, will have its World Premiere at the New York Live Arts Theater this April 14th at 8:00 pm.

The playwright/actor states "I am wildly excited and completely honored to have the prestigious Downtown Urban Arts Festival select my play, 'GAY.PORN.MAFIA' for its 16th season! On top of that, I am thrilled that we get to stage it in the beautiful New York Live Arts Theater. It is a breathtaking space!"

What's the provocatively titled 'GAY.PORN.MAFIA' about?

Gulla says "Ha! Well, that's the fun part! 'GAY.PORN.MAFIA' is actually a collection of my award-winning, nationally (and internationally!)-produced short plays. Comedies for the most part, but I like to believe they all possess a certain gravitas."

"Their cohesion lies in the umbrella of the title! All of the shows fall under one or all of the themes: "Gay", "Porn" or "Mafia". Quick example: one of plays is about a sexy priest that is forced to skydive out of an airplane that's exploded... only to find himself free falling into a raging outdoor gay dance party in Ibiza!"

"If the thought of hot, shirtless priest escaping death, discovering he is gay and, then, dedicating his life to being a "go go boy" with a religious passion for the music of Donna Summer is intriguing to you... well, um, you're the perfect "GAY.PORN.MAFIA" audience member!"

The complete 'GAY.PORN.MAFIA' collection includes: 'Gayfever', 'Fall and Rise', 'Reel Wood', 'Knock Off!' and 'Sleeping With The Fish". All written by Gulla.

Joe Gulla is a regular performer at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater. His play, "GARBO" won the 2017 Downtown Urban Arts Festival "Audience Award". Previously, Joe's "The Bronx Queen" won the 2016 DUAF "Audience Award". As an actor, Joe played "Joey" in San Francisco's "Tony & Tina's Wedding" for many years and "Frankie" in Off-Broadway's "My Big Gay Italian Wedding". He also starred on NBC's "LOST", one of television's first adventure reality series.

Joe Gulla's 'FAGGY at 50' will have its West Coast Premiere this May.
