Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown will perform in concert at Birdland (315 West 44 Street, NYC) on Tuesday, April 4 at 8pm. He will be joined by Jenn Colella (star of the forthcoming The Times They Are A-Changin') and his band, The Caucasian Rhythm Kings, along with more guest performers to be announced. The concert will feature songs from his Broadway and Off-Broadway successes, as well as material from his new solo cd, "Wearing Someone Else's Clothes" (Sh-K-Boom Records).

With The Last Five Years, Brown won Drama Desk Awards for Best Music and Best Lyrics. Brown received a 1999 Tony Award for his score to Parade, which premiered at Lincoln Center Theatre in December 1998, subsequently winning both the Drama Desk and New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards for Best New Musical. Parade was also presented on a National Tour in 2000, which Brown conducted. Songs for a New World opened Off-Broadway at the WPA Theatre in the fall of 1995, and has since been seen in more than two hundred productions around the world. Brown provided the orchestrations and contributed songs to Urban Cowboy, as well as handling the arrangements and musical direction. "Wearing Someone Else's Clothes" is his recently-released solo CD, while his new musical 13 was recently workshopped with success for Los Angeles' Center Theatre Group.

Colella will appear on Broadway this September in Twyla Tharp's The Times They Are A-Changin', following her performance in the role at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre this past winter. She made her Broadway debut in Urban Cowboy, The Musical, earning an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination for her performance. Other NY credits include The Great American Trailer Park Musical at NYMF and Slut. Colella has appeared regionally in Heartland at Dallas Summer Musicals and Madison Rep; Ring of Fire at the Nashville Performing Arts Center; and Victor/Victoria at the Barclay Theatre.

There will be a $35 cover and $10 food/drink minimum. Birdland is located at 315 West 44 Street in NYC. Call 212-581-3080 for reservations or purchase online at www.InstantSeats.com/Birdland. For more on Brown, visit www.jasonrobertbrown.com.
