Deaf composer Jay Alan Zimmerman ("Jay Alan Zimmerman's Incredibly Deaf Musical" at DC's Capital Fringe Festival) launches his unique and dynamic variety show at The Zipper Factory (336 West 37th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues), playing two shows this winter: Monday, November 19 and Monday, December 17 at 9:30PM.

Joining Zimmerman November 19 will be Broadway divas Jessica Phillips (The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Who's Tommy, Jesus Christ Superstar) and Kelly Ellenwood (The Phantom of the Opera), Kevin Massey (Tarzan, Big River), aerial performers Kiebpoli Calnek and Susie Williams and drag diva Miss Peppermint.

Jay Alan Zimmerman is the composer and author of several original musicals including My Café Cinderella and HoliDaze, and the song cycle Punctuated Thoughts.  He composed the for music for the plays Booth and Our Brutus, which were both Fringe First Award winners at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and had New York and London productions. His dance/film scores include Do Not Call It Fixity (Special Music Award, Grand Prix International Video Danse Festival and selected North American film in the MOMA retrospective, Georges Pompidou Centre, Paris) and The Last Leaf (Best Score, First Run Festival, NYC).  He is also an award winning filmmaker with a BFA in film from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.

As he lost his hearing he became a solo performer of his own works, including Evil Eye, DEaF Jam and DEaF Man Mocking, all produced in NY by PACT and Dixon Place, as well as Jay Alan Zimmerman's Incredibly DEaF Musical, which debuted as part of DC's Capital Fringe Festival.

Weaving elements of stand-up, musical theatre, performance art, audience participation, and multi-media, Jay Alan Zimmerman's Incredibly DEaF Musical takes the audience on his in-the-moment journey to overcome his ever-increasing deafness with humor and inventiveness.  "J@Z: The Jay Alan Zimmerman Show" is his first production with a cast since he became deaf, and includes several works that showcase his new approach of creating visual music.

Tickets to "J@Z: The Jay Alan Zimmerman Show" are $25 and are available by calling Ovation Tix at 212-352-3101, or online at www.thezipperfactory.com.

"J@Z: The Jay Alan Zimmerman Show" is presented as part of The Zipper's Words and Music By… Series, celebrating emerging Singer/Songwriters.
